Welcome to Nextpeer! Our platform is built to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming space for everyone to seek mental health support, connect with peers, and engage with Nora, our AI-powered companion. To ensure that all users have a positive and respectful experience, we’ve established these Community Guidelines. By using Nextpeer, you agree to follow these guidelines.
We ask that you read these guidelines carefully and abide by them while interacting on our platform. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination.
1. Be Respectful and Kind
Nextpeer is a community built on empathy and support. We expect all users to treat each other with respect and kindness. Please keep the following in mind:
- No harassment or bullying: Bullying, threatening, or targeting others in any harmful way will not be tolerated.
- No hate speech: Discriminatory, racist, sexist, homophobic, or hateful language based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or other characteristics is strictly prohibited.
- Respect personal boundaries: Do not pressure or coerce others to share personal information or stories they are not comfortable sharing.
2. Keep It Safe
We are committed to maintaining a safe space where people feel comfortable seeking support. To preserve the integrity of our platform, we ask that you avoid engaging in harmful behaviors, including:
- No harmful content: Do not post or share content that promotes or encourages self-harm, suicide, violence, substance abuse, or any other dangerous activities.
- No explicit content: Pornography, sexually explicit content, or graphic violence is strictly prohibited.
- No illegal activities: Do not engage in or promote illegal activities, including the use or distribution of illegal drugs, violence, or any other illegal behavior.
3. Protect Privacy
Nextpeer is built to respect your privacy, and we expect users to respect the privacy of others as well.
- Do not share personal information: Do not ask for or share sensitive personal information such as full names, phone numbers, home addresses, or financial information within peer groups or public discussions.
- Respect anonymity: Many users choose to remain anonymous by using usernames. Please respect their decision and do not attempt to reveal or inquire about their real identity.
4. Be Authentic and Truthful
To create a trusting and supportive community, honesty is essential. Users are encouraged to:
- Be yourself: Use the platform authentically. Do not impersonate others or create fake profiles.
- Do not share misleading or false information: Sharing inaccurate or deliberately misleading information is harmful and disrupts the trust we’re building within the community. Always aim to share facts and your own experiences honestly.
5. Respectful Interaction with Nora
Nora is designed to provide helpful, supportive interactions. Please engage with Nora in a respectful manner:
- Do not attempt to exploit the AI: Misuse of Nora through inappropriate or offensive language, attempts to manipulate responses, or other harmful interactions will not be tolerated.
- Understand Nora’s role: While Nora is a supportive companion, she is not a substitute for professional mental health services. Please use Nora for the purpose intended—support and guidance in non-crisis situations.
6. Peer Group Engagement
Peer groups provide a platform for users to connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges. To maintain the integrity and safety of these groups:
- Contribute constructively: Engage in positive, supportive conversations. Avoid inflammatory comments, arguments, or disruptive behavior.
- Respect group focus: Each peer group may focus on specific mental health topics or challenges. Stay on topic and refrain from spamming irrelevant content.
- No unsolicited advice: Offer support, but avoid giving unsolicited or unqualified advice. Remember, we’re here to support, not to prescribe or solve problems for others.
7. No Commercial Activity
Nextpeer is a platform for mental health support, not a marketplace. The following activities are not allowed:
- No advertising or promotion: Do not use Nextpeer to promote products, services, or other businesses. This includes sharing referral links or conducting any form of commercial solicitation.
- No fundraising: Crowdfunding, asking for donations, or any form of fundraising is prohibited.
8. Report Issues
We rely on our community to help keep the platform safe and positive for all users. If you see any content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it to our support team:
- Use the in-app reporting tools to flag inappropriate content or behavior.
- Contact our support team if you need further assistance.
All reports will be reviewed, and we will take appropriate action based on the nature of the violation. Reporting is anonymous, and your identity will not be revealed to the person whose content or behavior you report.
9. Compliance with Laws
All users must comply with applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations. This includes but is not limited to laws relating to data protection, intellectual property, and the distribution of inappropriate or harmful content.
10. Consequences of Violating the Guidelines
Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in various actions, depending on the severity of the violation. These actions may include:
- Warning: For minor infractions, you may receive a warning with guidance on how to comply with our guidelines.
- Temporary suspension: For repeated or serious violations, your account may be temporarily suspended, limiting your access to the platform.
- Permanent ban: For severe violations, including but not limited to harassment, hate speech, or promoting harmful content, your account may be permanently banned from the Platform.
Nextpeer reserves the right to take action at our discretion, including removal of content, suspension of privileges, or termination of accounts, based on the severity of the violation.
11. Updates to These Guidelines
Nextpeer reserves the right to update or modify these Community Guidelines at any time. If changes are made, we will notify you by posting the updated guidelines on our platform. Your continued use of the Platform after the updates take effect signifies your acceptance of the new guidelines.
By following these guidelines, you help us create a positive, supportive environment where everyone feels safe to seek the mental health support they need. Thank you for being part of the Nextpeer community.
